So Liverpool fans have got what they wanted and Roy Hodgson has left the club by 'mutual consent' (although the statement released by Hodgson does not make it sound particularly mutual).

I think Hodgson has been poorly treated from the minute he arrived. Some Liverpool fans didn't like him because they felt he was beneath their 'wonderful' club, others didn't like him because he was from London. But Hodgson was right, he didn't have the support of the fans and I think he's been badly let down by underperforming players.

So now 'peoples champion' Kenny Dalglish takes charge. That should at least keep the masses happy. It's an obvious appointment but maybe slightly shortsighted. Dalglish has been out of football for a long time and had disappointing times at Newcastle and Celtic. He will also be working with the worst Liverpool squad in my living memory.

And if this doesn't work out, where do Liverpool go next?
